Hundreds of thousands of young Italians went outside to participate in the meeting demanding the government take measures to solve the climate crisis, as ANSA informs.

The 'green wave' could be seen in protests in 160 Italian towns and cities as part of the third 'Global Climate Strike'.

The organizers stated that only 150,000 Italians took part in the Milan rally alone.

The demonstrations wrap up the worldwide Week for Future initiative that began on Friday, September 20, kicking off strikes in 130 countries overall, involving four million people.

Most countries chose to demonstrate on September 20, but Italy chose the 27th, along with 26 other countries, including Canada.

As we reported earlier, the UN Climate Action Summit with a speech from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, young environmental activist Greta Thunberg and Pope Francis took place in New York. They drew the attention of the international community to the necessity of addressing the problem of climate change.
