A circuit occurred on the Gurzuf-Masandra high voltage line in the annexed Crimea. It caused the total blackout in Yalta. Citizens observed bright flashes and electricity charges in the sky.
After the flashes were over, the city drowned in the darkness. However, relectricty supply was restored almost immediately.
The damaged section of the power line was shut off the grid. Maintenance works are underway.

Earlier, Ukraine's Ministry of Social Policy prepared the draft decree about paying compensations for the increased price of electric energy. The compensations are supposed to reach the users who set the electric heating in their apartments. 50,000 U.S. dollars will be assigned from the state budget's special fund. The decree has been submitted for discusssion by the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine.
The money will go to cover compensations for consumed electricity in Q1 2021. Compensations will be paid due to canceling certain reduced tariffs for certain categories of consumers - except for those who get housing allowance.
