The law about free meals for children of deceased military servicemen takes effect in Ukraine starting from today, January 1.
The Parliament passed the respective law (№ 978-ІХ) in November 2020.
Previously, the government was supposed to provide free nutrition at schools for the orphaned children, those deprived of the parental care and school students of 1-4 grades coming from poor families.
However, this right was not reserved for the children who lost one of their parents, as he/she protected sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine during the Joint Forces Operation in Donbas.
Since January 1, the law is obligatory for the authoritative agencies and local governance bodies.
"The government has approved the concept of economic development of Donetsk and Luhansk regions," wrote the official.
According to him, these territories need additional incentives that will create a platform for attracting investments. In particular, it is about development in the direction of the economy's real sector, industrialization, the development of critical infrastructure and logistics, etc.
"This is the framework for the economic restoration of these territories. The concept will form the basis of the corresponding strategy," added Shmygal.
