Chief Infectious Diseases Specialist Anthony Fauci has said that one million people in the country will not die from COVID-19 if more Americans are vaccinated. The United States has every opportunity to do so. This was reported by CNN.
He recalled that at least 70 million Americans are eligible for vaccination, “but have not yet done so.”
“If the vast majority of the population is vaccinated, this will definitely not happen,” Fauci said.
He also said that data on the feasibility of revaccination using vaccines from COVID-19 companies Moderna and Johnson & Johnson will be available in a few weeks.
US regulators have already begun considering the use of a third dose of the vaccine consortium Pfizer and BioNTech. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisory group recommended a third vaccination with Pfizer-BioNTech for people over 65 or at risk, but refused to support revaccination for the general population.
As it was reported earlier, the chief US infectious disease doctor Dr. Anthony Fauci stated that the third dose of Pfizer vaccine, the so-called “booster dose”, could be approved by September 20.
