63,000 tourists arrived in Chernobyl exclusion zone in 2018, the press office of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine reported.
‘Tourist flow to Chernobyl exclusion zone increases. It was visited by 8 thousand people in 2014, by 36 thousand in 2016, and by 63 thousand this year. Revenues from tourist services for 2018 amounts 39 million hryvnias ($1,4 million, - 112.international),’ reads the reports of the Ministry.
The Ministry assured that they fulfilled all obligations connected with the contributions to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant sarcophagus.
‘the Ministry of Ecology created every condition for the development of renewable energies, improved and automated the system of visiting the exclusion zone, opened three offices of the Chernobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve in Kyiv, Chernobyl and urban-type settlement named after Ivankov,’ the Ministry advised.
