Chernivtsi region (western Ukraine) may end up in the red quarantine zone; four more regions are already in the risk area. Yuriy Hanichenko, the director of the Centre of Healthcare Economy of Kyiv School of Economy (KSE) said so during the briefing.
As of September 21, the hospitalization rate in Zhytomyr, Luhansk, Lviv and Kharkiv regions exceeds allowable norms.
KSE marked that if epidemic indexes show bad statistics for three consecutive days in there regions, the local authorities will have to impose the red level of epdemiological danger.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in Ukraine, 54,919 people have died from the coronavirus, including 44,940 people over the age of 60, the Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko announced, according to the press service of the Ministry of Healthcare.
“82% of all deaths from Covid-19 are elderly people over the age of 60. Therefore, vaccination of this group of people remains a priority of the Ministry of Health,” the minister said.
