Rescuers claim that chemical fumes have not gone beyond the workshop

In the morning of July 28, a titanium tetrachloride leak occurred at ZTMK LLC, the titanium-magnesium plant in Zaporizhya, south-central Ukraine. This was reported by the regional press service of the State Emergency Service.

"July 28, at 10:36 the Rescue Service 101 received a message about the incident on the territory of ZTMK LLC. 10 units of the main and special equipment and 45 personnel arrived at the scene. At the plant, rescuers found that leakage of titanium tetrachloride occurred due to the damage of the transfer tank," said in a statement.

It is noted that for the deposition of vapor the rescuers created a water curtain using spray nozzles and, at the same time, prepared the foam supply equipment. Employees of ZTMK shut off the valve and installed the bandage to close the leak from the tank. The chemical was also transferred to another tank. At 11:40 the accident was completely eliminated.

Rescuers claim that chemical fumes have not gone beyond the workshop. There is no danger to the life and health of the local citizens. No one was hurt as a result of the incident.

The situation is under the control of Zaporizhya Regional Administration.
