Chemical factory caught on fire in central Iran

A chemical factory near the central city of Qom caught on fire on Sunday, Iranian media reported, according to AP.

A blaze injured at least two firefighters. Videos showed heavy black smoke rising from Movaledan chemical factory in the vicinity of Qom, one of Iran’s prominent religious cities.

The cause of the blaze was not immediately known.

Twenty fire engines and 150 firefighters were dispatched to the site.

Qom fire department spokesman Hamid Karimi said the firefighters managed to stop the fire from reaching alcohol tanks, although there have been several explosions and two fire engines have caught fire.

Two firefighters have also been injured, with one in critical condition.

As we reported earlier, heads of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan’s State Committees for National Security Kamchybek Tashiyev and Saymumin Yatimov reached an agreement on a full ceasefire on the border between the two states. 

"Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan agreed on a full ceasefire and the pullout of forces. People of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have very difficult time now, crisis. The tragedy occured in two countries. It was very hard for us to meet and work in this time. Yet, as intructed by the heads of our states we held a meeting and reached agreement on full cease of fire, withdrawal of troops from the border to their duty stations," Tashiev said.
