The State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has exposed a criminal group that illegally organized a migration channel for Middle Easterners through forgery. This was reported by the SBU’s press service.

It was also reported that the group had included foreigners who had been affiliated with the consular establishment and private companies in Ukraine.

During the investigation, it became known that the criminal group had been producing counterfeit documents and had been legalizing them at a foreign consulate. Afterwards, the perpetrators submitted these documents to the Ukrainian state authorities in order to obtain residence permits in Ukraine for citizens from "migration risk countries".

A criminal case was opened under Article 358 of Criminal Code of Ukraine (Forgery of documents, stamps, seals or letterheads, and sale or use of forged documents).

As we reported earlier, according to Polish Border Guard, in 2019, 26.6 thousand illegal immigrants were recorded in Poland: more than 13 thousand of them were Ukrainian citizens.
