Law enforcers are checking another version of the occurrence of fires in the Luhansk region, which is the hit of a shell from an uncontrolled territory.
Head of the National Police Ihor Klymenko announced this on the government meeting, Hromadske reports.
"We are checking the version of the possible hit of shells from the territory beyond the control of Ukraine. We have operational information that the day before there was shelling of a military stronghold from the enemy’s side with tracer ammunition," Klymenko said.
In addition, law enforcement officers are considering three main versions of the occurrence of a forest fire in the region: weather conditions, careless handling of fire and deliberate arson.
Investigators also opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 270 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - "Violation of fire safety requirements that resulted in deaths, property damage on a large scale or other grave consequences."
As we reported before, a large forest fire in the Luhansk region broke out on July 7. Later, the fire spread to residential buildings, the population was evacuated.
“Due to the fitful wind in the afternoon, a few fireplaces of the forest fires (crown) occurred and they spread over the forest to the residential sector of Vovche and Smolyanynovo villages, Novoaidar area. The evacuation of the citizens of these villages is underway,” the message said.
