April 21, the Roman Catholic Church and most of the Protestants celebrate the feast of the Resurrection of Christ. Thousands of people from all over the world came to Rome yesterday to receive the blessing of Pope Francis.

President Petro Poroshenko congratulated believers on Easter. The head of state made a publication on Facebook.

“I heartily congratulate everyone who celebrates it on the Gregorian calendar with the blessed Easter holiday. Let peace, harmony, and prosperity reign in every Ukrainian home,” Poroshenko wished.

The greetings were joined by the prime minister Volodymyr Groysman.

"I wish you to spend this day with family, in peace and love. With bright thoughts and high spirits. With the belief in the triumph of life, goodness, and justice!" prime minister wished.

On this day, it is common practice for Christians of the Western rite to serve colored eggs, cakes, and meat dishes on the table. It is considered a sin to do any work, to quarrel, to get angry on Easter. This bright day should be devoted to the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ in the family circle.

Orthodox Christians celebrate Palm Sunday today - believers go to church to consecrate willow branches - a symbol of the greeting of Christ, his entry into Jerusalem. This year, the Orthodox will celebrate Easter on April 28th.
