The car of the deputy of the local City Council was burning in Rivne at night. Anton Kruk, Speaker of Rivne region Police claimed this in the commentary to 112 Ukraine.
'We have received a message at about 1 a.m. that Mercedes burns on Chornovola Street in Rivne. The investigational group determined at the scene that the car belongs to the 30-year-old resident of Rivne, the Deputy of the City Council. The rescue teams promptly put out the fire and prevented the explosion of the car by cutting off the gas tank and removing the accumulator terminal. As a consequence of the fire, the engine room, the windscreen and the front side of the car are damaged,' Kruk noted.
Sviatoslav Stelmashchuk, Deputy of the Rivne City Council claimed on Facebook that perpetrators set fire to his car. The Deputy associates the incident with his political activity.
'Today, at about 1 a.m., unknown set fire to my car. Thanks to the rescuers for their operational work - no one got hurt, however, the car is beyond repair. All details, later on, preliminary connecting the arson with my political and professional activities,' Stelmashchuk claimed.
