A driver of a passenger bus involved in the car accident in the Zhytomyr region on July 20 fell asleep at the moment of the tragedy. Head of the Regional Police Viacheslav Pechenenko claimed this as UNIAN reported.
"After the expert study we saw that the constructive changes in the brake system of the passenger bus were made but it did not influence the consequences," he noted.
According to Pechenenko, a driver of the passenger bus fell asleep at the moment of the tragedy.
"…with probability in 99% a driver fell asleep at the wheel as there was no stopping distance and he even did not attempt to brake," he noted.
Reportedly, a shuttle bus and a truck crashed on the Kyiv-Chop highway near Zhytomyr region. As a result of the accident, ten people died and the same number of people injured. The Police claimed that a child and the driver of the bus are among the dead. Moreover, a citizen of Georgia and two citizens of Russia are among the dead. The driver of the truck is giving testimony.
As of July 21, the Condition of nine victims is stabilized.
On July 23, a court Zhytomyr has chosen the restrictive measure for the driver of the passenger bus in the form of the house arrest.
