The world-renowned Cannes Film Festival will not be taking place as scheduled. The reason is the Chinese coronavirus that is now ravaging Europe, reports The New York Times.

The event was supposed to take place on May 12-23, but now it's shifted to a later date. Currently, the organizers consider late June or early July.

The statement appeared soon after organizers of other major cultural events in Europe claimed they had to reschedule them in the view of the ongoing pandemic. Eurovision 2020 was canceled on Wendesday. So was Glastonbury, the famous British music festival; this year, organizers, musicians and the audience were about to mark the event's 50th jubilee.

Earlier, we reported that Homeward (Evge), the Ukrainian film by Crimean Tatar director Nariman Aliev is now available online, on OLL.TV service.

"Currently, each of us has time to stop and realize, staying alone with our thoughts, the importance of our close people who are next to us or far away. I hope this film that is an intimate saying about a family, motherland and our tough fate on the way to the internal consent will help re-assess these things. After all, who needs us, if we don't need not each other?", Aliev said.
