Various types of cancer and cardiovascular diseases became the most common causes of death among Ukrainians. The State Statistics Service reported that, citing the data on the deceased people, which was collected from January till June 2020.
196,567 people succumbed to cardiovascular diseases, including 135,867 those who died from coronary disease. Cancer caused death among 38,222 citizens.
Infectious and parasitic diseases killed 3,701 people; tuberculosis claimed 1,6113 lives, and AIDS took 1,583.
13,679 Ukrainians died because of accidents, murders, and suicides. 3,078 people committed suicide, 1,646 died in road accidents, 612 drowned, 596 perished in the fire, 1,157 succumbed to the alcohol abuse, and 688 were murdered.
Covid-19 claimed 1,112 lives in Ukraine, while pneumonia and flu killed 3,078 people over the mentioned period.
