The Cabinet of Ministers has agreed to provide subventions to local communities totaling $179,533. The funds will be used to connect high-speed Internet to social infrastructure institutions located in villages. The relevant decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on April 28.
"The goal of the draft is to increase the availability of broadband Internet in rural areas," the explanatory note said.
It is noted that currently 15,500 settlements, where 3.5 million people live, can not connect to the Internet. In this regard, the government agreed to provide subventions to local communities to connect social infrastructure facilities located in villages to the Internet.
According to the draft decree, social infrastructure institutions include:
- educational institutions, boarding schools for orphans;
- primary and secondary health care facilities;
- social protection institutions and institutions that provide social services;
- cultural institutions (libraries, museums and others);
- administration service centers;
- local fire and rescue service
The allocated money should be used to purchase services for connecting social infrastructure facilities to broadband Internet access in the areas of the telecommunications network of the operator that provides Internet connection services.
As it was reported earlier, The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has exposed the inter-regional network coordinated from Russia. It consisted of six internet agitators who urged on social networks to overthrow the constitutional order, seize state power, and massacre over the law enforcers.
