Rains in Italy, collapsed bridge

A bridge collapsed in the town of San Giorgio a Liri, Frosinone Province, Lazio district. According to Corriere della Sera, it was due to heavy rains that are now taking place in the area.

Strong precipitations also caused floods in Castelnuovo Parano municipality in the same district. Some cars were partially flooded, too.

There has been no information about casualties now.

Last month, the Syr Darya river spilled and broke through reservoirs in Uzbekistan. This caused floods in residential areas on both banks of the river: in Uzbekistan and in Kazakhstan. Both countries had to evacuate tens of thousands of their citizens. In particular, the authorities of Uzbekistan announced the evacuation of about 70 thousand people from 22 villages. On the part of Uzbekistan, the governor of the southern province of Turkestan, Umirzak Shukeyev, spoke about the resettlement of 5,400 people from four villages. He added that some people left on their own. The Uzbek government said it was able to reduce the flow of water and divert it to a nearby lake.
