Border Guards seize 22 kg of cocaine at Odesa seaport

Ukraine's State Border Guard workers found brickets of cocaine that arrived in Odesa from Ecuador. The authority's press department reported that on November 18.

"Odesa border unit, together with law enforcers detected 20 brickets of cocaine in Pivdenny seaport. The drug was found in a container from Ecuador. Brickets with cocaine were hidden in the air hatches of a container with bananas", reads the message.

The black market price of this batch makes 4 million U.S. dollars.

Last month, a worker of department of the SBU (Ukraine's state security service) was busted while illegally keeping an arsenal and drugs in his house in Kharkiv region, northeastern Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation showed that the suspect kept an AKS-74 assault rifle, some 3,000 rounds of 5.45 mm caliber, two hand grenades, and a throwable explosive device. Besides, during the authorized search, SIB operatives found amphetamines in total weight of 12 grams.

Thus, the SBU operative was suspected of illegal storage of firearms and explosives, without a due permission; he was also suspected of purchase and storage of psychoactive substances.
