Workers of Ukraine's State Border Guard detained a van that carried 800 illegally chopped pine trees. The incident took place in the Chernihiv region, the authority's press office reports.

"The van driver told the law enforcers that he carried wood but failed to provide the permission IDs for a check. When they examined the vehicle, it appeared that the closed-yop trailer was full of pines. In total, there were 800 young pine trees without the necessary marks", reads the message.

The National Police seized the lumber; the driver who moved the lumber was apprehended, too. The experts are yet to evaluate the damage done to the state. A criminal case has been opened on the fact of illegal deforestation or transportation of forest.
