On April 30, Ukrainian border guards mark their professional holiday.
President Petro Poroshenko congratulated the staff of the law enforcement agency. 'The Border Guards became the symbol of honor, courage and patriotism, the ones who are ready to stand and protect Ukraine anytime', he tweeted.
Petro Tsyhykal, the head of the State Border Guard of Ukraine congratulated the service's workers as well. The official wished them and their relatives peace, robust health, inspiration and new victories in the name of Ukraine. Tsyhykal also expressed his condolences to the families of the warriors who deceased or went missing on duty.
State Border Guard of Ukraine is an independent law enforcement agency of special assignment, the head of which is subordinated to the President of Ukraine.
The Service was created in 2003 after the reorganization of the State Committee in Affairs for Protection the State Border. During wartime, units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine fall under the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine includes the Ukrainian Sea Guard, the country's coast guard.
