The law No.2409-VIII, which enhances social protection of foreign citizens and persons without citizenship in Ukraine, took effect. It specifically concerns the foreigners serving with the Ukrainian army.

The document submits several specific changes to the Law on the Military Service; according to these amendments, if a foreign citizen who serves with the Armed Forces dies or gets crippled in action (with total or partial incapacitation), his family gets the one-time assistance from the government - just like Ukrainian citizens serving in the army.

Previously, the families of foreign citizens could get 500 living wages in case of death or incapacitation of their family member who served with the Ukrainian military in Donbas.

The sum of one-time assistance for the family in case of a serviceman's death or an illness suffered due to active service was increased; now, it equals 750 living wages (roughly 49.2 thousand dollars).
