"This will be the account for my official duties as President. At 12:01 PM on January 20th, it will become @POTUS. Until then, I'll be using @JoeBiden," the tweet reads.

As of 21:00 on January 16, the number of subscribers has already exceeded 869,000.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump will leave Washington on January 20, just before President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, to begin his post-presidential life in Florida.

Trump had already announced that he would not be attending Biden’s inauguration — an historical break with tradition — after spending months making baseless allegations of voter fraud in an attempt to delegitimize Biden’s presidency. Vice President Mike Pence will attend in his place.
