Yevgeniy Zaichkin, the protester assumed dead during protests in Belarus turned out to be alive. Belsat TV reported this on August 10.

"Our reporters spoke with the man on the photo, his name is Yevgeniy Zaichkin. He's alive, more details are coming up", reads the message.

Zaichkin told the press that he and his brother walked towards the stele in Minsk. A van approached, several riot police operatives dropped off and started apprehending people, using force. The protester got down on his knees, but they hit him with police batons. Suffering a craniocerebral injury, ended up at a hospital, and then went home because there were no bone fractures. His brother was apprehended, and as of Monday noon, his whereabouts remained unknown.

Yevgeniy Zaichkin was reported to have become the victim of a standoff between the police and protesters in Belarus. Earlier, the media reported that a police truck ran over the crowd, killing a protester - assumingly, it was Zaichkin.

Previously, Belarusian Interior Ministry claimed that 50 protesters and 39 law enforcers sustained injuries during the mass riots in Belarus. The authority denied that a protester deceased, being hit with a police truck.
