Belarusian athlete Krystsina Tsimanouskaya is already in Poland, that gave her a refugee visa a few days ago. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine, the arrival of Tsimanouskaya was also confirmed by the Belarusian opposition leader Pavel Latushko on his Facebook.
“We are glad that Krystsina Timanovskaya could get to Warsaw safely! We hope that the agony of the regime will end soon, and Krystsina will be able to return to conquering new sports peaks in the new Belarus!” Latushko noted.
Tsimanouskaya arrived in Warsaw on August 4 evening on an airliner that took off from Vienna.
As it was reported earlier, the Belarusian Sport Solidarity Foundation reported on August 1 that Krystsina Tsimanouskaya there were attempts to transfer Krystsina Tsimanouskaya forcibly from Tokyo. The athlete urgently got tickets and she was taken to the airport.
Earlier, the athlete criticized her country's Olympic officials over a lack of doping tests and a decision to move her into a relay race. She had to replace one of the athletes who left the competition.
Krystsina Tsimanouskaya stated she is afraid to return to Minsk as she can face jail.
