The death toll from a powerful blast in Beirut, Lebanon, has risen to 100. It is also known that as a result of the explosion about four thousand people were injured. This was stated by the Secretary General of the Lebanese Red Cross George Ketanni.
75 ambulances were involved in the evacuation of the wounded. Local authorities believe that the number of victims might be even bigger.
Health Minister Hamad Hassan said there was a problem with medicine in Beirut. In this case, hospitals can be considered powerless.
"We need to prepare lists of materials and equipment needed for the medical sector and try to work systematically, although it is difficult to set priorities," said Hamad Hassan.
As we reported earlier, according to Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmygal, no Ukrainian citizens were injured or killed in the explosion in Beirut.
"A terrible tragedy in Beirut. My condolences to all those who suffered and lost relatives and friends. Now, according to Ukraine's embassy in Lebanon, there is no information about injured Ukrainians. We are closely monitoring the situation," the prime minister's press service said.
