Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko claimed that the current occupancy rate of the beds with oxygen in Kyiv's hospitals makes 66 percent. At the same time, there are no free beds in Kyiv city hospital No.4. This is mentioned in the message on Klitschko's Telegram channel.
According to the Chief Medical Officer of Hospital No.4 Tetyana Mostepan, 30-40 percent of all hospitalized people are immediately taken to intensive care units.
"The disease is so aggressive. There are just no patients with moderate gravity conditions n the stationary treatment. They all are treated at a hospital. There are 455 beds with oxygen in our hospital, and all these beds are occupied. The workload at the hospital makes some 90 percent, and the consumption of oxygen makes seven tons a day. I never saw anything like this", she said.
Due to the fact that two major Ukrainian plants stopped producing medical oxygen, the government decided to purchase the oxygen supplies from Poland. Healthcare Minister Viktor Lyashko reported that in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda.
"Given the fact that it (one of the plants, - 112 International) is located in western Ukraine, we contacted Poland, which is much faster than delivering the oxygen from Donetsk, Luhansk or Zaporizhya regions. Ministry of Infrastructure issued the necessary licenses quite quickly, in just one day, and the distributor that supplies this oxygen brought a couple of vans from Poland and delivered the oxygen to hospitals", Lyashko said.
