Over the past year, the number of Ukrainian channels with 100 thousand subscribers and more has increased by 35%, and channels with 1 million subscribers - by more than 45%.
Despite the fact that over the past year most people have been forced to stay on lockdown, content that has helped people learn, develop and relax without leaving home has become very popular in the world.
"For example, daily views of home workout videos increased by 340%, videos with meditation grew by 35%, and views of culinary channels increased by 45%. Watching live streams on YouTube in the world increased 10 times in 3 years, and viewers they watch live broadcasts 4 times longer than regular videos, "the message says.
It is noted that quite unique trends have emerged in the Ukrainian YouTube segment during the pandemic. In particular, in December 2020, educational content (physics, mathematics and chemistry) in Ukraine was watched 50% more actively than a year before.
Viewers' interest in local travel content has significantly increased - videos about hiking and rafting have grown in views by more than 80%. One of the most interesting trends on Ukrainian YouTube during the pandemic was the content on fish farming - the viewing time of the corresponding videos increased by 50% in December 2020 compared to December 2019.
Earlier it was reported that if by May 31, Ukrainian authors of content on YouTube do not provide information on the payment of taxes to Google, then from June 30% will be withheld from the income from US viewers (for business accounts). For individual accounts, the tax will be 24% of the total revenue from viewers worldwide.
