The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany confirmed the death of two German citizens as result of attack on tourists in the Egyptian resort town of Hurghada, reports AFP.
"At the moment, we regretfully can confirm that two German tourists were killed in the attack in Hurghada," the ministry said.
At the same time, the publication with reference to a high-ranking official of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Egypt notes that until now the motives for attacking tourists are not known.
"This man - he may be crazy or unbalanced. But now it's too early to talk about it," he said.
Law enforcers also consider the version of the terrorist attack and domestic conflict.
We recall, yesterday, on July 14, in the Egyptian city of Hurghada, there was a terrible incident in one of the hotels: a man with a knife attacked visitors on the beach. Sources from law enforcement agencies noted that as a result of the attack, two people were killed, presumably Ukrainians, and four others were injured. However, this information was not confirmed. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry noted that there are no Ukrainians among the dead, and the Egyptian authorities reported that German citizens were killed. Other victims are Armenian, Czech and Russian citizens.
According to preliminary data, the attacker swam to the hotel from a nearby public beach. He attacked guests of two hotels - THE HABIA and SUNNY DAYS EL PALACIO. Now the man is arrested.
