In Poland, at the Dorogusk-Yagodin border checkpoint on the night of April 27, border guards detained a 25-year-old Austrian suspected of involvement in Donbas illegal armed formations, torturing and murdering Ukrainian prisoners of war. This is reported by Onet.pl.
"This foreigner is wanted on suspicion of involvement in an armed conflict in the eastern part of Ukraine, where he probably killed the wounded and prisoners, as a member of one of the opposing groups," said Dariusz Senitsky, spokesman for the Nadbuzhansky department of the Border Guard Service of Poland.
So far, the Austrian remains under the Polish justice, he is expected to be extradited to Austria.
Senitsky stressed that the detention was possible because of an introduction of strenghtened control at the external borders of the EU.
Senitsky also noted that this is the first time when a person suspected of involvement in illegal armed formations in Donbas was detained on the Polish-Ukrainian border.
