Austria launches route to Poland, which provides train transfer to Ukraine

The Austrian Federal Railway plans to launch the Graz (Austria) - Przemysl (Poland) route with the possibility of a train transfer to Lviv and Odesa, the Polish edition of Rynek Kolejowy reports.

The first rail runs on this route is scheduled for December 15.

It is reported that Eurocity 104 trains will consist of first- and second-class wagons. They will be served by the railway companies PKP Intercity and České dráhy. In Bohumin (Czech Republic), additional Czech wagons will be hitched to the train in the direction of Graz.

According to Austrian Federal Railway spokesman Bernhard Rider, a transfer to Lviv and Odesa will be possible in Przemysl.

It was stated that the private passenger transport operator Leo Express had planned to launch the first train from the Ukrainian border to Prague via Krakow by the end of 2019. The Polish Railway Administration received information from Leo Express in January about scheduled rail runs on the Prague-Medica-Prague route.

As we reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the strategy for Ukrzaliznytsia for 2019-2023. According to the approved strategy, the company will hold ten key events, including the implementation of reasonable tariffs for 2019-2022, reorganization of the society from the regional structure in business-segments in 2020-2022.
