Head of the Health Ministry of Australia Brendan Murphy stated that there is a slim possibility that the country will open its border this year. It is possible only if the majority of the Australian population is vaccinated as Xinhua reported.
“I think we'll go most of this year with substantial border restrictions. Even if we have a lot of the population vaccinated we don't know whether that will prevent transmission of the virus and it's likely that quarantine will continue for some time,” Murphy said.
As of January 17, 28,708 Covid-19 cases are registered in Australia.
As we reported, vaccination against coronavirus has begun in 46 countries. Moreover, 38 of them are high-income countries.
