Attacker, who took hostages, detained in Odesa

Law enforcement officers detained an attacker who took hostages employees of a financial institution in Odesa. This was reported by Odesa police speaker Lyubov Gordievska on the air of 112 Ukraine.

"As a result of the police operation, the attacker was detained. Two women, who worked in a financial institution, were taken to a medical facility. Now the offender is taken to the Suvorov police department for an explanation," Gordievska said.

The police added that the attacker was born in 1994. The incident was qualified by two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 2 of Art. 147 (hostage taking) and part 3 of art. 187 (robbery).

Earlier police informed that "in one of the financial institutions in Odesa, an unknown person took an employee as a hostage. Negotiations are being held with the offender. Investigative measures are being taken to release the hostage and detain the attacker."

The "Thunder" special operation was introduced in the city.
