The SBU, Ukraine's state security service detained the attackers who wounded Dmytro Verbych, the combat veteran of Donbas conflict and the defender of Donetsk airport. The Service's press department reported that the detention operation occurred in Kharkivm northeastern Ukraine, where they assailants were hiding after the attack.
The operatives found out that the organizer of the attack was a Russian citizen who left Ukraine on May 4 and is currently fleeing from justice in Poland.
The pre-trial investigation is underway.
Dmytro Verbych survived the attack in Kyiv on May 2. The man suffered a knife wound to his back; the attackers also used a pepper-spray pellet.
