February 10, as a result of artillery shelling by the forces of the Bashar al-Assad regime in the Idlib region, five Turkish soldiers were killed and five more were injured. Anadolu news agency reports with reference to the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey.
The ministry said that the Syrian army attacked the Turkish observation post in northern Syria. After that, the Turkish army responded with fire on Syrian military targets.
It is also reported that this is already the second attack of the Syrian government forces in a week, which led to the death of the Turkish military in Idlib province. Turkish President Recep Erdogan said that by the end of February, Syrian forces would be pleased to leave the positions located next to the Turkish observation posts in Idlib, threatening to otherwise launch an offensive in the area. Note that the Turkish posts were created in accordance with the 2017 agreement between Russia, Turkey, and Iran.
In addition, Erdogan accused Russia of violating agreements on the de-escalation of hostilities in the region.
As we reported before, Russian combat aviation delivered an airstrike on the hospital and residential quarters in Syria. The tragedy took place in Ariha village. 11 people, including a child, died in the nighttime attack; another 60 were wounded, Anadolu Agency wrote.
