Arvin, the dry cargo ship that sunk near the coast of Turkey was actually hit by the storm. Vladyslav Zaterka, the Ukrainian crew member had managed to report it before the ship sunk. Suspilne reported that, having contacted the sailor's fiancee.
The last time when Vladyslav contacted his fiancee Tetyana Tsaryuk was January 17, 11 a.m. It was when he wrote to her about the storm.
According to the girl, Vladyslav's family learned about the catastrophe from the Internet. They could not contact the shipowner company, so they gathered information on their own. Vladyslav's parents learned that he was saved thanks to the video published by Euronews.
"It is known that he's alive. We just found a video on the Internet, where they show him being escorted to the ambulance car. He was the one filmed by the TV camera crew", Tetyana said.
According to her, the young man has not contacted the family yet. It's still unknown what actually happened, and the terms of his return are uncertain as well.
Journalists also contacted the family of Oleksandr Perkatyi, another crew member of Arvin. According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko, he is alive and well, too. His nephew promised to comment on the situation today, January 18.
