The vaccination campaign against influenza began in Ukraine. Currently, there are 665,000 doses of vaccine in this country for massive inoculation of citizens. Viktor Lyashko, the Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine said so as quoted by Healthcare Ministry's press office.
"In the near time, The Healthcare Ministry will provide 40,000 doses of vaccines against flu for healthcare facilities, in order to inoculate medical staff working with those sick with coronavirus infection", reads the message.
Lyashko stressed that the infectious disease caused by the flu virus is usually experienced in the light form, but it also could result in a more serious course of the disease. This mostly concerns elderly people, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases, and small children.
"Circulation of viruses during the Covid-19 pandemic in autumn and winter could bear grave consequences for vulnerable groups of the population. This is why the important priority this season is vaccination of medical workers who administer aid to patients and implement measures to fight Covid-19", Lyashko said.
