The figurant of the "Yalta case of Hizb ut-Tahrir" Emir-Usein Kuku on June 26 started a hunger strike. This was reported on his Facebook page by his wife Meriem Kuku.
"On June 26, 2018, Emir-Usain turned 42. And on his birthday he began a hunger strike, for me this news was a shock and a big surprise! He is a very patient person! But this prejudiced and unlawful persecution and accusation of terrorism pushed him to it. This is a protest against trumped-up cases against him and other, unjustly arrested political prisoners, "she wrote.
Let's remind, Emir-Usein Kuku was detained on February 11, 2016, during mass searches in Crimea.
In July 2016, he was placed in a special unit of the prison as a "dangerous defendant". Subsequently, he was accused of preparing "forcible seizure of power." In December 2017, he was transported from Crimea to Rostov-on-Don.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine demands the release of the figurants of the "Yalta case of Hizb ut-Tahrir" from the Russian Federation.
Let's note, earlier the hunger strike was announced by other Ukrainians, who are called political scientists of Russia, in particular, Volodymyr Balukh and Oleg Sentsov.
Earlier Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted a resolution on the release of the Ukrainian political prisoners in Russian and Crimea on June 28 in Strasbourg. 77 PACE members voted for the decision, 15 abstained. 112 Ukraine broadcasted the event.
Before the voting, the relevant report was read in the chamber, then the debates on the issue were conducted.
Earlier, Thorbjørn Jagland, the Secretary-General of the European Council, issued an official request for the pardon of Oleg Sentsov, a Ukrainian movie director, to Putin, the President of Russia.
