The case of diphtheria of a 47-year-old man is confirmed in Ternopil region as Healthcare Ministry of Ukraine reported on Facebook citing Public Health Center of Ukraine.
According to the Healthcare Ministry, a man contacted with three people, including one child. The disinfection was held at the place of residence of the patient.
According to the report, a man was vaccinated in 2017; there is no information about previous mandatory vaccinations.
“The vaccination against diphtheria forms the antitoxic immunity, which protects a person from the grave progress of a disease. In 2017, the vaccination formed the sufficient level of the antitoxic immunity that prevented the development of severe complications,” the message said.
Earlier, the case of diphtheria of a schoolchild was confirmed in Kyiv. Another two cases were spotted in Uzhhorod.
Totally, three people are infected in Ukraine as for today.
Earlier, the UN reported that 70 percent of all measles cases in Europe are observed in Ukraine.
Besides, all adults will get the vaccines against measles for free. Former Acting Healthcare Minister Ulyana Suprun reported that another 780,000 vaccines against measles will be bought by Ukraine in 2019.
