It is noted that in a day, on July 16, 248,914 new cases of the coronavirus were observed and it became the record number of a daily incidence during the whole period of the pandemic.
Particularly, 73,000 new patients were observed in the U.S., almost 44,000 in Brazil, 35,500 in India, over 13,000 cases in South Africa, 8,000 in Columbia, 6,400 cases in Russia and over 6,000 in Mexico.
5,763 people died from the complications of the coronavirus. 1,299 deaths were registered in Brazil, 962 in the U.S., 680 in India, 579 in Mexico and 216 in South Africa.
The previous record was observed on July 13 – 230,370 people per day.
Totally, 13.9 million cases of the infection were observed in the world since the beginning of the pandemic. Currently, over 5 million people are infected; while 1% of them are in severe or critical condition (over 59,000). Over 8.2 million people recovered; while over 590,000 people died.
As we reported, 239 scientists from 32 countries signed the open letter to the World Health Organization (WHO), which states that the WHO underestimates the spread of the coronavirus by air and urges to reconsider its recommendations.
