An unvaccinated child died from measles in Ukraine, as Minister of Health Ulana Suprun said in the Parliament today.
“Yesterday it became known that another death due to measles occurred. It’s a child who hadn’t been vaccinated. It’s the 8th case of death since the outbreak began. This is the tragedy of our society - people are dying from a disease that’s prevented by a vaccine,” Suprun said.
As we reported earlier, within 11 months of 2017 3382 people were diagnosed with measles in Ukraine. Last year four lethal cases of measles were recorded, but Ulana Suprun noted there were six lethal cases, and four of them were children. Between 10 and 14 January, more than 10,000 children were vaccinated against measles in Kyiv. It is believed that measles got into Ukraine from Romania.
