The Pechersk court of Kyiv took Oleksandr Zhuk, the head of flights of the military unit A-4104 in Chuhuiv, into custody on suspicion of violating the training and flight rules, negligence, which led to the crash of the An-26 plane and the death of 26 servicemen. It was reported by Hromadske.
According to the investigation, Oleksandr Zhuk violated the scheduled flight table, namely in the so-called conveyor method by allowing the flight to take place. This, according to the investigation, led to the fact that the crew found out about the failure of the left engine right in the air and could not quickly solve the problem.
At the same time, according to the investigation, Zhuk is also accused of allowing too many people on board - 18 cadets instead of 10, which increased the total number of servicemen on the An-26 aircraft. Prosecutors say there were only 10 parachutes and 10 oxygen masks on board. It also indicates that the number of people was exceeded.
It is reported that Zhuk faces up to 15 years in prison.
As we reported earlier, on September 25, at about 20:50 near the military airport of Chuhuiv, Kharkiv region, a military aircraft AN-26 fell and caught fire.
Rescue work was carried out by 70 people of the State Emergency Situations Service. According to preliminary estimates of flight safety specialists, one of the sensors in the left engine of the aircraft failed.
On October 21, seven crew members of the flight posthumously received the Exemplary Service Badge.
