The flights of the An-26 aircraft of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which fell near Chuhuev in the Kharkiv region, were performed by the crew commander. He reported a port engine failure, and 5 minutes later requested a landing approach, as the Security service of Ukraine reports.

According to available information, the training flights of the An-26 aircraft began at 18:50 and were supposed to last until 22:50. The curriculum provided for the training of cadets of both flight and navigational specialties in accordance with the course of combat training.
The SBU said that in total there were 27 Ukrainians on board the aircraft, including 20 cadets of the Kharkiv University of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine named after Kozhedub and 7 crew members.
