An-26 crash: Over 50 such aircrafts exploited in Ukraine

As for today, over 50 An-26 planes, similar to aircraft crashed in Kharkiv region on September 25, are exploited in Ukraine as Antonov State Enterprise reported on Facebook.

“Currently, 53 An-26 planes and its modifications exploited in Ukraine, including 24 aircrafts in the civil aviation and 29 aircrafts in the state aviation,” the message says.

The age of the oldest plane of this model is 48 years and five months. This plane is of the 1972 year of production. The youngest aircraft is of 1985 year of production – 35 years and a month.

The maintenance of the majority of the An-26 planes in the civilian aviation is held according to the Regulation of maintenance of An-24, An-26 planes with frequency in 500+/- 50 flight hours.

The stages of the individual duration of service – a year or two. The An-26 planes of all modifications might get 50 years of the service on an individual basis.

Meanwhile, the specialists of the enterprise constantly work on the modernization, renewal and continuation of the airworthiness of An-24, An-26, An-30, An-72 and An-74 operationally available planes to provide their safe exploitation during 2-5 years until they are replaced by more modern aircrafts.

As we reported, a plane crash occurred near Chuhiuv, in Kharkiv region on late September 25. The disaster resulted in deaths of 26 people.

The SBU said that in total there were 27 Ukrainians on board the aircraft, including 20 cadets of the Kharkiv University of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine named after Kozhedub and 7 crew members.
