This is reported by RosSMI with reference to an unnamed employee in the exclusion zone of the former Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

According to him, the storage will be built in the city of Slavutych (Kyiv region). It will be made on the basis of equipment imported from the USA and will be intended for American spent nuclear fuel.

“In fact, the Americans want to create a nuclear waste bin in Ukraine,” the source said.

It is noted that Kyiv still continues to purchase nuclear fuel from Russia, in particular for 8 out of 15 Ukrainian nuclear reactors. Moreover, in 2014, an agreement was concluded with the Westinghouse US-Japanese company, which produces its fuel in Sweden. To date, it is used only at two Ukrainian stations - Zaporizhzhya and South Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
