In Germany, the proportion of infected with the Delta coronavirus strain has already reached about half of all cases of Covid-19. The head of the Robert Koch Institute Lothar Wheeler expressed this opinion at a meeting on the epidemiological situation with the participation of Health Minister Jens Spahn, as Deutsche Welle reports.
According to official information, the share of confirmed infections with Delta variant SARS-CoV-2 is now 36% in Germany. However, Wheeler is convinced that these data are outdated.
According to him, the rate of infections with the Delta strain reaches 50%.
As it was reported, Health Minister Jens Spahn said that the more infectious Delta coronavirus variant will become dominant in Germany over the summer.
Earlier, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov stated that the newest Indian strain of coronavirus Delta was observed in Ukraine.
Due to it, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine introduced the mandatory coronavirus antigen test for crossing the Ukrainian border for people traveling from a number of countries.
The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine insistently recommends the citizens refrain from traveling to countries, where the largest outbreak of a new, aggressive strain of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Delta is observed. Particularly, the Ukrainians are not recommended to visit India, the UK, Portugal and Russia until the epidemic situation stabilizes.
