Almost all Covid-19 patients in Russia who were put on artificial lung ventilation have Delta strain as TASS reported citing Chief Pulmonologist of the Russian Health Ministry.

According to the Russian specialists, the new Delta strain strikes young people with strong immunity in the majority of cases. Meanwhile, elderly people, who have a high risk of complications threatening to life, face such a variant less.

Earlier, the World Health Organization registered the lowest number of cases worldwide since February but cautioned that the Delta variant, now present in 92 countries, is driving a deadly new wave.

As we reported, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov stated that the newest Indian strain of coronavirus Delta was observed in Ukraine.

Due to it, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine introduced the mandatory coronavirus antigen test for crossing the Ukrainian border for people traveling from a number of countries.
