The number of Covid-infected people in Ukraine increases. 984 new cases were observed in this country over the last 24 hours. Press office of Ukraine's Healthcare Ministry reported that on August 4.

47,442 tests were performed in Ukraine over this period (that included 22,533 PCR tests, 8,064 IFA tests and 16,845 express tests). 752 citizens were taken to hospital.

2,255,345 Covid-19 cases have been observed in this country since the pandemic reached Ukraine. On August 3, 570 people recovered and were discharged from hospitals; another 43 passed away.

As we reported, the WHO doesn't get enough funds to fight the coronavirus pandemic. As the Delta strain marches across the globe, the Organization needs 11.5 billion dollars.

Reuters news agency cited a document, in which the WHO claims that much of the money is supposed to cover the purchase of tests, oxygen supplies and masks for poor countries. A quarter of that sum should go to purchase of hundreds of millions of vaccine doses.

"The programme, set up at the start of the pandemic, remains vastly underfunded, and its coordinators are now acknowledging it will remain so as many governments look to address global COVID needs "differently", an ACT-A official told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity. As a result, it has cut by nearly $5 billion its total request for funds, the document shows. But it still needs $16.8 billion, almost as much as what has been raised so far, and $7.7 billion is required urgently", reads the story.
