The air bomb of the WWII-era was found during the building works in Ternopil, western Ukraine. The fire-workers inspected the ammunition and defined that it can be dangerous. The residents of the surrounding houses were evacuated. The specialists continue the clearance work as the press service of the State Emergency Service in Ternopil Region reports.
The bomb was found on May 30. The building owner contacted the State Emergency Service. He got to know from the locals that there can be a bomb of WWII on the plot of land.
‘The specialists of the fire-works reconnoitered the plot of land and found out the German air bomb SC 250 that was at the depth of 1.5 meters’, the message says.
The session of the local committee on the issue of the industrial and ecological safety was called to make a decision of the munition clearance. The session took place in the Ternopil City Council.
The decision to begin the clearance work at 9.00 on May 31 was made during the meeting. The national police will provide the security of the found bomb.
‘As at 13.00 May 31, the evacuation of the local residents was made. The specialists inspected the ammunition and found out 2 blasters that constitute the danger. At the moment the decision to make it safe by freezing is under consideration. After this the transportation of the dangerous found and its disposal will be made’, the representative of the State Emergency Service stated.
