On Sunday, November 26, actions in support of Ukrainian political prisoners detained in Russia took place in Odesa, Lviv, Kyiv, as well as in several airports of other countries. Photos from the events were made public on the pages of Ukrainian embassies in social networks.
Let's note, the rallies are timed to the birthday of Olexander Kolchenko, who is being held in Russia, togeyjer with film director Oleh Sentsov he was convicted for "terrorism." Today, Olexander turns 28 years old.
According to the activists, there are still about 60 Ukrainian citizens being behind bars in Russia, who are persecuted for political reasons.
Activists came out with banners on which the names of political prisoners were written.
The action called "Waiting in vain" was also held at the airports of Prague, Bucharest, Helsinki, Warsaw, Riga, Astana.
In August 2015, the Military Court in Rostov-on-Don (Russia) sentenced Kolchenko to 10 years in prison on a fabricated charge of preparing terrorist acts in Crimea. Together with him, the director Oleh Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The international "Memorial" organization recognized Kolchenko and Sentsov as political prisoners.
