In Kazakhstan, police detained 9,900 people who took part in the riots, reports.

"According to the latest data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of detainees in Kazakhstan is already 9,900," the statement reads.

Almaty police also reported that they had detained a "group of looters" who were looting various shops in the city. During the searches of five citizens, material evidence of looting was found - stolen in various trading houses.

In addition, security forces detained an 18-year-old resident of the Almaty region. According to police, the guy build a hiding spot with guns, which he took out of a gun shop during the riots.

The detention of a 27-year-old resident of Ekibastuz is also reported. He is accused of stealing a military truck.

As it was reported, the unrest in Kazakhstan began against the background of rising gas prices; clashes with security forces, seizure of office buildings, and looting began in the cities. By January 4, protests had spread across the country. Kazakhstan has declared a critical level of the terrorist threat.

The authorities have not yet provided exact data on the number of dead; it is known that three children are among the dead.

At the same time, almost 400 people were injured by the military.

More than 90 units of National Guard military equipment were also damaged during the riots.
